Intro
Tucked away in a narrow pedestrian laneway in Surry Hills, a creative cultural hub in Sydney, Village Voices is an interactive installation that invites passersby to pause, reflect and engage with issues affecting individuals, communities and the built environment.

Taking inspiration from changeable letter signs used by churches, movie theatres and sporting fields to communicate with their communities, the thought-provoking installation features a black steel framework with white acrylic letter blocks. The letters are backlit and interchangeable, with the remaining blocks stored in a transparent glass letterbox below.
For this iteration, we collaborated with artist Astra Howard to raise awareness of the design community’s vital but often overlooked role in shaping happier lives.

The Gadigal are the Traditional Custodians of the southern side of Sydney Harbour. Their Country extends from South Head to central Sydney, with boundaries understood through cultural knowledge and connection to Country.
